Some pictures really do speak a thousand words…

Benjamin was delivered via an unplanned Cesarean after nine hours of active labor. One in five deliveries end in unplanned Cesareans, because they are often the safest way to deal with any complications that may occur during labor. It’s never an ideal scenario, of course, but we are thankful for the excellent medical staff and overjoyed that Benjamin is healthy and beautiful! We are happy to be home and getting back into a routine. Thank you, everyone, for your prayers and congratulations over the last several days.

Kristin and I are at the hospital today and, God willing, Benjamin will soon be in our arms.

Three weeks and counting…

Everyone seemed to have a great time at our Couples Baby Shower. Here’s a great photo of Mike and Jen’s daughter Lilly checking out Kristin’s mysterious belly bulge. Thanks to all of our friends for celebrating with us. And special thanks to Jeff for cooking up so many wonderful culinary treats!

Kristin is 33 weeks along, so we have less than two months before our due date. We’ve been working hard to get everything ready for Benjamin’s much anticipated arrival. We hope to be ready by October 1st just in case he decides to come a little early. Benjamin is about four pounds now and gaining about half a pound every week.

Lance’s parents, Larry and Lea, will be visiting soon and staying with us for a few weeks. While they’re here, we’ll be looking seriously at the possibility of them moving to Austin. We’re looking forward to their visit and will be sure to make a few blog posts while they’re here. Please pray for their safe travel and that the Lord will lead us through our many planned adventures in Austin.

Here’s a couple of photos of Benjamin from our 3D/4D sonogram appointment today. The first one is our overall favorite and provides a good snapshot of his beautiful face. The second is what Kristin calls “Angry Benjamin” and is a good one of him making a face after continually poking himself in the eye with his big toe. Also, his eyes are slightly open in the second photograph.

Mom & Dad are VERY happy to see their little baby! We’re hoping he doesn’t poke his eye out, though!

We’re excited to be painting the nursery! We’re less than three months from the due date and things are moving right along. We hope to be done painting this week. Our border is on order and should be here in a few weeks. We’re going with a nautical theme — notice the two different shades of blue for water and sky — and Lance is going to sponge paint some clouds on the ceiling. It’s the brightest room in the house!! I wonder if we should paint the ceiling fan blue, too!?

B is for Baby & Benjamin & Blue!

IT’S A BOY! And the doc gave him a thumbs-up on all of his measurements, so everything is going well. Mom & Dad & grandparents are thrilled!

And Happy Birthday to Kristin! We’re celebrating by grilling out burgers and watching the Spurs! (And there might be some birthday cake involved, too. Italian Creme! mmmmmmm)
