Road Rally

No need to rub your eyes… This isn’t trick photography… It’s a road rally, baby! This photo was taken from within one of five Mazda Speed3’s. I’m driving car #3 in the photo. Our fearless leader decided to make a sudden u-turn and the guy waiting at the intersection seemed quite entertained as we circled him and then sped off into the hill country.

Austin

Austin “Tobacco” Skyline, originally uploaded by evh5150evh.

I found this beautiful photo of Austin on Flickr today. I love this darn city! Of course, the skyline will soon look a bit different: two other buildings have already been approved that will be taller than the Frost building. Woot!

I spent the evening in downtown Austin last night, chatting it up with one of the premiere PHP developers in town. We met on 4th Street for drinks and dinner. After some fly-over introductions and a few dirty martinis, we got into an exhilirating conversation about Web 2.0 and the feasibility of my business plan. It was nice to have a chance to bounce my ideas off of someone who is so deeply involved in the industry and able to visualize where the current trends are heading. On one hand, I received the affirmation I was seeking; on the other, it became deafeningly clear that I still have a lot to learn.

Hello, friends and family!

Filed under: Austin, Family, Food, House, Web 2.0 — vaughnaustin @ 11:07 am

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I finally let go of the guard rail and have taken the plunge into the deep blogosphere abyss. I do hereby declare… ahem… my intention to keep friends and family “current” with photos and news of our fun-filled lives in Austin. I intend to use Flickr to share photos and this blog to share news. From what I’ve read, you can integrate the two. Hello, Web 2.0! The world is changing — pay attention. In the relative near future you can expect to hear me spouting such terms as folksonomy, crowdsourcing, technorati, microformats and the list goes on. I am interested in participating in the future of structured blogging as it relates to… Well, more on this later.

Kristin and I made a quick trip to New Mexico this weekend to visit her parents and celebrate her mother’s birthday. The weekend has been full of gastronomic indulgence and special celebration.

Our new house in-process is scheduled to receive the final touches on its exterior this weekend, so we’re looking forward to returning to Austin to see the progress firsthand. You can expect photos promptly.

Keep in touch!
Lance
