Wedding Video, Part One

As we get closer to our one year anniversary, we thought we’d share with you a few snippets of our wedding video. After all, not everyone is going to make it by Austin anytime soon, so why not use the web to share it?!?

We’ll post ‘em on Our Wedding page. Stay tuned for a handful more between now and June 17th.

Oompa Loompa?

We got some video of a strange creature during our Port Aransas vacation a few weeks ago. We didn’t even know that we had captured it on video until we were watching it last night and saw the creature run past. Kristin’s Dad, who is a bit of an expert on the area and its native wildlife, seems to think it might be an Oompa Loompa

Uncle Dave Baptized

Seeking a breakthrough in his relationship with Jesus Christ, Lance’s Uncle Dave was baptized Sunday at Living Stones Church in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. We are overjoyed that Dave has rededicated his life to the Lord’s service. Notice the turtle bearing witness?

Larry Comes Home

larrycomeshome.jpg

Lance’s good friend of twenty-six years, Larry Dye, is finally returning home from Baghdad.. and this time FOR GOOD! Hallelujah!

Larry has been in Baghdad for several years, working as a civilian contractor with top secret military clearance. Before that, he was in Germany for several years. He is now finally coming home and looking forward to rediscovering how to live life outside of the green zone. He is being transported on a Rhino Runner along Route Irish which runs between the green zone and the Baghdad International Airport. This bullet-proof RV-looking thing reminds me of the movie Stripes.

Let us pray for his safe return home over the next few days and, perhaps, a decision to live in our favorite place — Austin!

Bobby J, Samba & KSYM

“Come on everybody, let’s take a trip to Brazil…”

This morning Kristin & I are listening to Bobby J’s Saturday morning jazz program on KSYM. Once a year, he does his Brazilian Jazz Show, also known as Samba Saturday. If you’ve never been introduced to Samba, just let me know — I’ve got a Samba compilation that I put together a few years ago with Bobby J’s help. Bobby J throws some great jazz parties, where we all just sit around visiting, drinking and spinning his 5000+ records, many of them original pressings!

Thanks to Cisco for introducing us to Bobby J and his wife Freddie, and also for taking this picture on his cell phone. There are a handful of things that Kristin & I miss about San Antonio, and Bobby J is at the top of the list.

We’re Pregnant!

Some of our friends may have wondered why we haven’t been going out as much lately… or why Kristin hasn’t had wine when we went out to dinner. Well, now you know! We’re pregnant, baby!! (And we do mean baby!)

We found out on February 8th and promptly took the photo above. It’s been two months of praying and holding our breath — we’re not perfect! Our due date is October 25th. Kristin is about to enter into her second trimester and, at this point, feeling great! As far as names are concerned, we’ve chosen Benjamin Lucas for a boy and we’re still thinking about girl names… maybe Amelia, Leah, or Holly

Last week we rented a fetal doppler monitor from BellyBeats to hear our baby’s heartbeat without having to wait for our 12-week doctor’s appointment. Here’s a quick video of the very first time we heard it! The woosh-woosh sound is the baby’s blood flow. When you hear the sound of horse’s hooves… or the sound of a steam locomotive… THAT’s the baby’s heart! … approximately 140 bpm … perfect!

We’ve really enjoyed having the doppler and listening to our baby’s heartbeat every night before bed. In addition to the heart, you can also hear fetal movement. Kristin is still trying to grasp the idea of having another living being inside her and is looking forward to being able to feel him moving around. (For the record, we alternate between calling the baby him and her.) We’ve decided to find out the gender in week 20 when that option is available. We’ll also post a video of the sonogram!

Today we went to our 12-week checkup and everything appears to be going as scheduled! Mom & Dad & Baby are all doing well! We’re getting a little chubby, but HEY that’s part of the fun! No more salmon sashimi or sauvignon blanc, but bring on the Hamburger Helper and tall glass of milk!

Stay posted for more family fun! It feels great to finally be able to spread the news! YAY!!

Incremental Facelift Underway

Well, it’s been over a month since we’ve posted a photo of the front of the house. Things are moving along — as you probably *cannot* tell from the photo above, the builder is working with the mason to replace the stones that don’t work with some that do. I took this photo yesterday morning, and it was a bit cloudy, so the light isn’t that good; however, I can tell you that a significant improvement has been made over where we were a month ago. There’s still a lot of work to do and we’re moving at a snail’s pace, but I’m confident that we’ll get there. We may not start on the landscaping until a week before closing, but we’ll get there. By the way, closing has been scheduled for Saturday, May 19th, so we should be moving in on the 20th!

Inside the house, we have a lot slated to happen in the next three weeks. From the fireplace stone to the wood flooring and carpet. The place is covered in dust right now, but the cleaning crew should be sent in real soon and you’re guaranteed to see some more photos when that happens!

Gender Bender

Kristin worked late last night, so I made dinner and cleaned the kitchen. She unwound by perusing sexy swimsuit photos of her favorite movie star while sipping on a cocktail and burping the alphabet. Then she got settled in for some college hoops while I watched Pride & Prejudice.
